Down and Out in Paris and London
As part of the Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival Phelim Drew's interpretation of Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell will be on in Bewleys Café Theatre for 5 days and nights.
This play focuses on the journey of a man through the streets of 1930s Paris and London. While teaching English in Paris he is exposed to the undercurrent of 1930s Parienne society. Observing all Paris has to offer from a position of poverty he reflects on the inequalities around him with humour. In London the realities of his situation are met with dark humour as his less colourful surroundings are assessed as well as its inhabitants.
Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell (Copyright, 1933) by permission of Bill Hamilton as the literary Executor of the Estate of the Late Sonia Brownell Orwell.
